Tottenham first Premier League team to fail to make one summer signing

Pochettino said: "I don't have news now and to do so before the deadline would be so hard".

Tottenham are yet to sign a player this summer and moves for players such as Jack Grealish have stalled as Aston Villa have changed their tune on his the winger's future at the club. Then also with Europe having more time to do deals, it was all so quiet and relaxed.

"For me [that] is to be fearless".

Tottenham are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signing this summer as they prepare for the new campaign.

We didn't sell players and with 25 players in the squad it is hard to add players. "It's a fearless decision".

And with less than four hours left in the window, the Tottenham manager is losing faith that the club will be able to add to the team that finished third in the Premier League last season.

Their failure to bring anyone in is the first time a Premier League club has not made a signing in the 15 years of the summer transfer window. "Drama is many things in life but football is joy".

"Football is a game where you need to be clever in how you set your principles, your strategy to try to win the games".

"It's hard to understand for people that Tottenham didn't sign or sell a player, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently and we're happy with our squad", he said. It is important to be professional, to have commitment, with the team, with the club, with yourself, full commitment until the end.

But he urged them to knuckle down if they remain for the season, saying: "If all the players today are thinking in a collective target, we can be competitive". If we have all the squad thinking as individuals rather than as a collective, you can not achieve what you want and can not succeed.

The Scotland global was a key man during a loan spell at Villa Park last season, but as the Villans hit financial difficulty early this summer, they were unable to put anything in place that allowed them to keep the playmaker.
