Student poses with 13-foot alligator ‘friend’ for graduation photos

When it came to her graduation photographs Texas A&M University student Makenzie Noland wanted to make sure they really stood out.

Noland's picture wasn't almost as polarizing, but some people thought it was foolishly unsafe for her to risk life and limb for a graduation shot. Noland is about to graduate and is now interning at Gator Country in Beaumont. Noland is an old hand with alligators who is about to receive her degree in wildlife ecology.

'It took him a few weeks for him to like me.

Noland has been overwhelmed by the reaction her pictures have got, with media outlets across the world covering the story.

"I've been working with him to get to this point to be able to feed him by myself so it was intense", Noland wrote.

Every graduate wants that memorable graduation photo.

"These alligators are a product of people feeding them", Noland said, explaining that the alligators taken in by the wildlife sanctuary were considered "nuisance" gators.

The Aggie student shared her photos last Friday with the caption "Not your typical graduation photo". "We'd rather leave them in their natural habitat".

This is big Tex the largest alligator we have at Gator Country measuring 13ft 8.5in. In March, Melody Kliebert posted a gender-reveal video, which showed an alligator biting into a watermelon to show a blue colour and, with that, the news that she was expecting a boy. But Noland wants to assure everyone that she always follows safety guidelines set out by the park and would never purposely put herself in any danger.

Noland says her father is "iffy" on her chosen career field, but her mother encouraged her to apply for the internship.

"I would never do anything to risk my own life", she said. We look at all that behavior.
