Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders join 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'

Of course, the last time we saw Spidey, Fury, and Hill at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, they had all died as casualties of Thanos' genocidal finger snap - so it remains to be seen exactly how they will return for Far From Home. But the question is how? How all of this plays out onscreen is still anyone's guess, but if you dig Jackson as Fury, get ready to see a lot more of him.

In a report from Vulture, it has been revealed that Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will be reprising their roles as Nick Fury and Maria Hill respectively in the Spider-Man sequel, also known as Spider-Man: Far From Home. This will take place after the fourth Avengers movie that should explain everything.

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly playing the film's primary villain, Mysterio. Undoubtedly, Peter Parker will be all too eager to be involved in their spy world, so cue plenty of pop culture references to James Bond and Jason Bourne.

Now that Avengers: Infinity War has been released digitally, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have used the commentary track to expand upon the creative choices made in the film. But not Spider-Man. Aunt May's favorite nephew managed to hold on for nearly half a minute before succumbing. Or it means that Spidey's cool new suit gets trashed.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the fifth collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios, which worked out a deal that allowed Spider-Man to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe while also leaving the character and his immediate world under the Sony Pictures umbrella. Plus, Peter Parker's classmates played by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are supposed to be back as well.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming-which will also see Tom Holland returning as the currently-very-dead web-slinger-isn't due in theaters until July 5, 2019.
