Margot Kidder's Death Ruled Suicidal Overdose

"It's a big relief that the truth is out there", Kidder's daughter Maggie McGuane told the outlet.

Today saw the Park County coroner reveal the cause of death: "she died as a result of a self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose". She believes it is important to be open and honest about suicide and not hide it.

It's noted that Margot Kidder struggled with mental illness throughout much of her life, which was made worse in a auto accident in 1990 that left her in debt and wheelchair bound for near two years. I want what I know about her to be out there because it was glorious.

In releasing the cause of death her family hoped to erase stigma around suicide and encourage others to seek help.

Now, nearly three months after Kidder's body was found by a friend in her Livingston, Montana home, a coroner there has ruled her death a suicide.

"The reality of my life has been grand and wonderful, punctuated by these odd blips and burps of madness", she said. The world mourned the loss of chef, celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain and fashion designer, Kate Spade this past summer as well.

The actress had publicly struggled with mental-health issues.

Both Kidder and co-star Christopher Reeve, who played Superman, were relative unknowns when they got their leading parts, and neither saw many major roles afterwards. She continued to act in many movies and TV shows, most recently the 2017 film "The Neighborhood".

According to IMDB, Kidder had two projects in pre-production at the time of her passing.

Kider also appeared in The Great Waldo Pepper with Robert Redford in 1975, Brian De Palma's Sisters in 1973 and The Amityville Horror in 1979. In Australia the crisis support service Lifeline is 13 11 14.
