Vehicle seized as investigation into deadly Novichok nerve agent widens in England

The man who fell ill after he was exposed to the nerve agent novichok in Amesbury has made a "small but significant improvement".

When asked if Basu was looking for a "needle in a haystack" and he said, "That's why we need witnesses or intelligence", Sky News reports. "Charlie is still very unwell and will continue to require specialist, round-the-clock care here at Salisbury District Hospital", the report says.

There is no evidence to suggest they went to any areas that had been decontaminated after the attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, who were exposed to the nerve agent in Salisbury in March.

Ms Sturgess and Mr Rowley were stricken in the Wiltshire town of Amesbury on June 30.

Authorities have broadened their investigation into the nerve agent poisoning of an English couple, seizing a auto in a third community in southwestern England.

Mr Basu said it was also "implausible" that the poisoning was not linked with the attack on the Skripals in March. Dawn Sturgess, right, died on Sunday from her exposure.

The backdrop to this meeting was British but the issue was global as police issued a Novichok warning to the residents of Salisbury.

The UK government has blamed Russian Federation for the incident, but the authorities in the Motherland deny any involvement.

"I would love to be able to stand here and say how we have identified and caught those responsible and how we are absolutely certain there are no traces of nerve agent left anywhere in the county".

Basu said Tuesday police have found no forensic link between the two cases, and it was possible that a link would never be established, the Guardian reports.

"But the brutal reality is that I can not offer you any reassurance or guarantee at this time".

"I am hoping Charlie recovers, and when he recovers he will be able to tell us and perhaps shed some light on it which will narrow our search dramatically".

Police officers guard a cordon in Salisbury, one of five locations in the city and Amesbury under investigation.

The company shared photographs of their "Novichok" vodka to their Facebook page on July 7, one week after Ms Sturgess and her partner were rushed to hospital after being posioned.

The UK's top anti-terror police office said on Wednesday that he could not guarantee those responsible for the poisonings will be caught.
