US Embassy issues alert over Trump visit

The decision to approve the flying of a giant blimp depicting Donald Trump as an angry, orange baby near Parliament has been defended by London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Trump lands in Britain on Thursday following a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting in Brussels where he chided Germany and other European nations for failing to contribute enough to defence spending.

Trump will arrive in Britain on 12 July for a "working visit", a more sober affair than the original plan for a state visit with its customary pomp and pageantry after it drew threats of mass protests.

The U.S. Embassy in London warned Americans in the United Kingdom to "keep a low profile" during President Donald Trump's visit to the country in case the protests turn violent.

A large baby blimp caricature of Mr Trump is set to be flown at Parliament Square on Friday morning, ahead of a series of further gatherings including an anti-Trump and anti-Tory 12-hour "DJ marathon party" in Soho, and a march at Cavendish Square Gardens by the Friends of Al Aqsa and Muslim Association of Britain on Friday afternoon.

He will meet Theresa May at Chequers before joining the Queen at Windsor Castle on July 13.

Its advice to US citizens was to "keep a low profile" and "exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent".

In light of what the embassy calls "events" and "demonstrations" that are "expected to attract large crowds", Americans should "exercise caution" if they find themselves "unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent".

Nigel Farage ripped London Mayor Sadiq Khan for allowing a large blimp featuring the effigy of an infant Donald Trump to be flown over the city while the USA president visits.

Trump heads to Britain just days after several high-level cabinet ministers, including Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, resigned over Brexit negotiations. "That's certainly up to the people, not up to me", said Trump.

Trump, for his part, will largely be avoiding London during his visit, according to this Inquisitr report, instead spending much of his time in Scotland, where he owns golf courses.
