Start Playing Sooner: Microsoft Rolls Out Xbox FastStart

Mixer can now work with full screen broadcasting for webcams - JOY.

Xbox's July update brings a bunch of handy improvements.

In Mixer, users can now Share Controller - or with a PC, with this latest update, users can share full mouse and keyboard bindings, too. This allows multiple controls to be used at the same time! Per-channel leaderboards were added too.

You can now group your games and apps and the search has been improved and you can press Y anywhere on the dashboard to bring up the search dialog. Hit enter or click the "more results" button to view a full page for your search results. It remains to be seen whether that version will also disappear, or whether the Xbox One version will reappear after possibly being accidentally removed. Groups will appear across My Games & Apps, Home and Guide, so you'll be able to access your Groups at a moment's notice.

Microsoft is also making enhancements to Pins with a feature called Groups. You can assign names, organize and order the items in Groups, and you can sync them with your Microsoft Account across all your Xbox Consoles. This app has been tested out by Xbox Insiders the last few weeks, with a launch for everyone happening today. This feature was first announced at E3 2018.

If you're downloading Fallout 4 or Sea of Thieves on Xbox One, FastStart lets you play before the progress finishes. The update will include "FastStart", which is a feature created to address one of the biggest frustrations of modern gaming: Being forced to wait for your titles to download before you can play them.

To force-check an update to your Xbox One, head over to Settings - All Settings - System - Updates.

Speaking about the new move to free to play, Simon Darveau, Creative Director at Scavengers Studio explains: "No time limit or excluded modes".
