Microsoft teases a possible Surface launch tomorrow morning

The Surface Go will make its way to India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain later this year.

The pre-orders of Surface Go will begin on July 10 and it will start shipping from the next month. This means that the Surface tablet will possibly be available for purchase by this Friday. Some of these may be individuals who always wanted a Surface but couldn't afford it until now, with the base-level tablet on its own costing $399.

Microsoft on Tuesday talked up the "built-in kickstand with full friction hinge that extends to 165 degrees helps you stay in your flow from tablet to studio mode". The device will be available in the following countries: US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Taiwan, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Malaysia, and Thailand. These displays will be advertising a new Type Cover and new hardware from Microsoft, which went unnamed in this leak. It has also rounded the corners a bit compared to the latest Surface Pro, but overall, it's the same familiar magnesium design Surface users have come to expect.

These tablets didn't resonate with consumers, so the company focused more on pricier Pro models.

The processor is an Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y, which is a rather meager Kaby Lake chip. The Surface Go is aimed at the same potential buyers as Apple's 9.7-inch iPad, which starts at $329. Otherwise, you get a single port for USB-C - a new universal standard that replaces the USB slot you might be familiar with.

If true, this would be a surprise announcement from Microsoft and a quiet launch for a brand-new product in the Surface family. It comes in 4GB and 8GB RAM configurations, with 64GB of eMMC storage, or a 128/256GB SSD (all expandable with a microSD card).

The Surface Go runs Windows 10 S, a version of Windows that will only run apps found in the Microsoft Store - a walled-garden approach much in the same vein as Apple.

Does Microsoft's Surface Go Tablet have the capability to disrupt the tablet market? The Surface tablet itself will also be 20% lighter than the Surface Pro line, coming in at an oddly specific 562g.

On a final note, some Microsoft fans are sure to be disappointed by the reveal of the Surface Go.

Both of these are WiFi versions of the device and Microsoft has also promised LTE versions of the Surface Go later this year.
