Former UCLA basketball player Billy Knight, 39, dead

Former UCLA basketball star was found dead Sunday morning, authorities said.

Names from across the sports world reacted to news of Knight's death on social media.

Knight posted this troubling video the same day he was found dead.

He talks about depression and apologizes to loved ones in the video. What killed him is yet to be confirmed as his body is yet to be examined to ascertain what killed him.

Anderson also noted Knight uploaded a six-minute video online titled "I am Sorry Lord" in the hours before his death.

After graduating from UCLA, Knight went undrafted and spent time in the National Basketball Association D-League before going to the Harlem Globetrotters and playing overseas. "I lied, I cheated and I stole", he said. That's why my life ended up where it is now.

TMZ reports, "Shortly after the video was posted, the Phoenix P.D. says officers found Knight's body in a roadway in downtown Phoenix". You can't play around with life. I isolated myself from my family members, I isolated myself from my friends. "I just ask God for forgiveness for all the wrong I've done".

"Our hearts are heavy after learning Billy Knight has passed away", it reads.

Knight, 39, played for UCLA from 1997-2002, where he averaged 14 points per game during his senior season.

Mental illness is a bad disease and should be treated very seriously. "We ask that the Bruin family keep Billy's loved ones in their thoughts during this hard time", tweeted the UCLA men's basketball program.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Knight played professionally in France and Japan and worked as a basketball skills coach. UCLA fans have been dealt a second heartbreaking loss, as just this past weekend, former Bruin, Tyler Honeycutt, lost his life in a shootout with the police.
