Fallout 76 Not Indicative of the Future of Bethesda Game Studios

"People, they're on other things".

In his talk at Gamelab, Howard admitted that 'Skyrim Switch has a big community that we haven't supported the way we'd like'. Howard clarified that they would love to eventually see mods on the Switch, but now, that's not something the company is actively doing. However, the boss of Bethesda did promise that future games will get mod support and that includes Fallout 76. You can view the interview with Todd Howard in full on Eurogamer!

I asked what he was doing to rectify it. Our Switch group did Fallout Shelter. and that's done really well.

It looks like Skyrim won't be getting mods or Creation Club on the Switch, although fans are eagerly looking forward to the same. "Right now we're doing nothing", he said. "I'm surprised at how well it's done".

"It doesn't mark the future", said Howard (via Twinfinite), adding that the company has already launched a bunch of games belonging to completely different genres and aiming for totally opposite audiences.

Todd is still very happy with how the Creation Club has fared on other consoles, but sees plenty of room for improvement.

Bethesda thus is still not paying any attention to mod support for Skyrim which is a sad piece of news for avid gamers. So, those that picked up Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch were expecting equal or similar support for their version of the game. Do you think Bethesda is serious about still doing traditional single-player RPGs?

Fallout Shelter started life as a free mobile base-building game in summer 2015, and PC and Xbox One releases soon followed. Nonetheless, when it finally did arrive, Skyrim fit Switch as we'd hoped, and the ability to play on trains and planes and the toilet, was delightful.
