Can Joey Chestnut win his 11th Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest?

The 2018 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is in the books.

Chestnut, the current hotdog-eating world record holder from Vallejo, California, downed a whopping 74 weiners, dipping the buns in super-sized plastic cups of water during the 10-minute-long contest.

Joey Chestnut is the top dog again!

"Oh, my God, I got in a vicious rhythm", said Chestnut, per Larry McShane and Mikey Light of the New York Daily News.

"I feel like I can do it".

And because hot dog eating is a sport, the event will be broadcast on ESPN 2 with the livestream at WatchESPN.

Lesco finished second Wednesday at Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest in the women's division, knocking down over two dozen wieners in 10 minutes. The record for the women's contest, set by Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas in 2012, is 45 hot dogs.

There was some controversy however, Chestnut didn't break the record after the initial count.

Still, she easily beat out second-place finisher Mischelle Lesco of Tuscon, Arizona, who chowed down 28 wieners and buns.

Many thought Chestnut would have a hard time approaching his previous record because of the heat at the Coney Island location, but it did not bother Chestnut.

Chestnut, it's worth noting, is something of a hot dog eating legend as he's won the event 10 times thus far. Carmon Cincotti was runner up with 63 dogs with Darron Breedon who followed behind with 43.

Since 1972, thousands of curious onlookers have gathered at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, New York to witness the gastronomical feat known as the annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.

That appeared to pay off Wednesday, as Chestnut outpaced his 20 challengers in the competition's 102th year.

The Fourth of July is here and so is Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest where grown men and women enjoy eating as many hot dogs as they can.
