Trump, Kim agree to repatriating U.S. military remains

It also seemed to leave officials completely off guard in South Korea, where the presence of USA troops has always been described as necessary to maintaining peace on the peninsula.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has expressed "unwavering commitment" to complete denuclearization, US President Trump said after their first face-to face talks.

The US and North Korea commit to recovering remains of the Korean War, including immediate repatriation of those already identified.

The president said he and Kim "got along from the beginning" and the North Korean leader realized that he must get rid of his nuclear weapons. "Now the hard work to bring the initiative to fruition begins".

Hannity asked the president how Trump went from calling Kim "little rocket man" just months ago to the pair sitting down for a summit.

But according to him, the sanctions will remain in effect until the USA confirms North Korean nuclear weapons are no more.

"Building upon the agreement reached today, we will take a new path going forward".

North Korea's state media, referring to the drills, recently demanded that Washington "stop the acts of threatening its dialogue partner by force".

On June 6, South Korea's Memorial Day, Moon said the return of the remains of missing Americans and the estimated 120,000 South Koreans also missing from the 1950-53 war was a top priority for the Trump-Kim summit.

North Korea has called for an end to the exercises as part of the United States' ending its "hostile policy" toward the country. Between 1996 and 2005, joint U.S.

It's debatable whether North Korea's commitment to recovering USA war remains could count as a major win for Washington when Pyongyang would be simply returning to what it had been doing for years.
