Furious Scottish lawmakers walk out of United Kingdom parliament

"I have a duty.to stand up against betrayal against Scottish people and the power grab that has taken place", Blackford added.

"Yet, last night, she pressed ahead with a power grab in direct opposition to Scotland's elected parliament".

Earlier, in Commons exchanges, the SNP leader had pointed out that despite the declaration that Scotland would be a partner of equals in the United Kingdom, the Tory Government had pressed ahead with a "power-grab" in direct opposition to Scotland's Parliament and had "silenced Scotland's voice".

Mrs May stressed how the outcome of the Brexit process would increase Holyrood's powers in 80 areas, declaring: "It is not the case that this is in any way a power-grab".

The Scottish Parliament has already voted against giving its formal consent to the Withdrawal Bill, with SNP, Labour, Green and Lib Dem MSPs united in this stance. Let me be clear, the SNP shall not "sit down" and allow the people of Scotland to be treated in this way.

Blackford replied: "The reality of the situation is that powers enshrined under the Scotland Act in 1998 are being grabbed back by this Parliament".

The row was prompted by a "lack of debate" on what Mr Blackford said was a "power grab" by the United Kingdom government.

"It is a democratic outrage".

He then demanded a vote on the issue, something which Bercow refused to consent to until PMQs had concluded. But Scotland's devolved parliament, Holyrood, had rejected those measures last month with the backing of all parties save the Scottish Conservatives.

Mr Bercow said he would be happy to take a vote on the issue after PMQs, but after Mr Blackford repeatedly refused to sit down, he ordered him to leave.

Blackford was followed by the rest of the SNP's 35 lawmakers.

She blasted the "farcical" Parliament stating: "The people of Scotland were not able to have their voice heard last night in the European Union withdrawal debate. But the Prime Minister has ignored Scotland". As MPs continued to shout, Mr Bercow could he heard saying to colleagues: "He won't, so we'll have to have the vote".

That caused widespread anger north of the border and accusations by the SNP that Prime Minister Theresa May's government is ignoring Scotland. "It is not acceptable".

SNP MPs have simply been doing their job - standing up for their constituents - and the Tory MP who suggested they should commit suicide instead says everything about how little some on the pro-Brexit right value democracy.

Scottish Secretary David Mundell said the SNP was about to be granted a debate on the devolution aspects of the EU Withdrawal Bill by the Government. He added: "Disappointed, if not surprised, that if they really felt so strongly about it, they chose a stunt over holding the Government to account".
