Dancing FBI agent whose gun went off faces charges

The backflipping Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who accidentally shot a man in the leg at a Denver bar earlier this month was arrested Tuesday and faces charges of second-degree assault, according to Denver Sheriff Department records. He appeared in court on Tuesday morning on second-degree assault charges in connection to the shooting. Denver police had said they were awaiting the results of alcohol and drug tests before making an arrest.

"We are filing this charge now rather than waiting until the BAC report is received, which we understand could take another week", District Attorney Beth McCann said. Bishop has been charged with assault and additional charges might be filed.

Bishop turned himself in to the Denver Sheriff Department on Tuesday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Denver police.

The agent, named by police as Chase Bishop, was performing a backflip in a nightclub when his gun fell out of his pocket and shot a bystander in the leg. The firearm went off when he picked it up, and another customer suffered a serious but nonlife-threatening gunshot wound to the lower leg.

The shooting was captured by bar patrons, with the footage quickly going viral on social media.

"We sat down at one of those picnic tables - I heard a loud bang and I thought some idiot set off a firecracker", Reddington told ABC News later.

The victim was treated and released from hospital. "I don't want to blame anybody, throw anybody under the truck, I just want to heal".

Meanwhile, the owners of the bar where the incident took place has offered Reddington liquid compensation for his injury.

Mile High Spirits said on its Facebook page that the bar's management was "deeply saddened" by the incident.
