'Werewolf' creature shot and killed by rancher in Montana

A rancher near Denton, Mont. shot the odd animal on May 16, according to the Great Falls Tribune.

The body of a "wolf-like animal" shot and killed by a rancher near Denton, Montana has been sent to a lab where scientists will attempt to identify it through DNA testing. "Finally, we caught it and it turned out to be a hybrid".

United States wildlife officials are baffled by an unusual wolf-like creature shot by a rancher in Montana.

Authorities will likely take weeks before processing DNA results.

The animal originally was reported as a wolf by the rancher, but wolf specialists looked at photos of the animal and doubted it was a purebred wolf. According to the International Wolf Center, almost all wolfdogs are bred in captivity.

Until then, officials have no way of knowing what the animal is, but Smucker thinks it is some kind of wolf-dog hybrid, which is not uncommon. Several people report being strong armed into keeping quiet about their reports by men wearing black suits.

"Social media was quick to pronounce the animal as everything from a wolf to a wolf hybrid to something mythical", the wildlife agency's news release said.

"First off, [dire wolf] was a song by the Grateful Dead from 1971", Auchly told the Great Falls Tribune.

"I know, I listened to it many times".

Warden Zach Norris says the rancher was within his rights to kill the animal because it was seen near livestock, domestic dogs and children. As reported Great Falls Tribune, specialists in the wild, while cannot determine what kind of animal, says the Chronicle.info with reference on the Tape.

User @Rambobiggs said: "Sooo basically what you're saying is that a wolf and bear made love in the woods".

While wolves were once almost extinct in Montana, the state boasted an estimated 900 wolves in 2017. Self-proclaimed biologists, pseudo-scientists, and conspiracy theorists, of course, do not want to wait that long: social media has since been buzzing with rumors and claims - ranging from werewolf speculations, to cryptozoological claims, to assumptions about secret U.S. government breeding programs.
