Three, two, one: New ways to control Google Pixel Buds

Turns out that that rumor was the real deal, as Google has just announced a few different new additions for their first-generation wireless earbuds. Things like asking for your favorite playlist, making a call, sending a message or getting walking directions to whatever destination you want are done by simply tapping the right earbud.

As noted above, the software update for the wireless headphones is rolling out today, so keep an eye out. Now, you can set double-tap to skip to the next track. Additionally, if listening to music, you can change the double-tap to allow you to skip tracks (thank, God!) instead of checking for notifications. You can enable this feature within the Google Assistant app on your phone.

Triple tap: Pixel Buds can now be manually turned on or off by triple-tapping on the right earbud.

Google says that this update is starting to roll out today and should arrive on Pixel Buds everywhere by next week. A triple tap on many, if not most Bluetooth headphones lets you switch to the previous track, something you still can't do without invoking Google Assistant.
