R. Kelly mentions God, does raunchy show in Greensboro

A U.S. women's advocacy group as taken Spotify to task, requesting that the service remove further artists from its playlists who have been accused of sexual misconduct in the past.

The new policy is facing more and more scrutiny as time passes with XXXTentatcion's representative giving the name of 19 artists (and their supposed crime) whose music has not ben tampered with on Spotify. Kelly's music will still be available on the service but the decision to remove it from playlists means it will no longer be promoted.

"We don't censor content because of an artist's or creator's behavior, but we want our editorial decisions-what we choose to program-to reflect our values", Spotify said in a statement last week. "We are removing R. Kelly's music from all Spotify owned and operated playlists and algorithmic recommendations such as Discover Weekly", Spotify wrote.

"Pandora's policy is to not actively promote artists with certain demonstrable behavioral, ethical or criminal issues", the statement read. "We approach each of these scenarios on a case-by-case basis".

As we noted last week though, this is nothing new, with artists such as Lostprophets and Rolf Harris having had their work "disappeared" by music retailers and services in the past.

He was acquitted in 2008 of child pornography after a video circulated appearing to show him having sex with a teenage girl.

The Greensboro concert was among the R&B singer's first performances since the #MuteRKelly movement accelerated boycott efforts in recent weeks, with help from the Time's Up campaign against sexual harassment and assault. Coscarelli also shared a response XXXTentacion's team shared with him. His music can still be found by those who search for it, but Spotify will not promote it.

'Mr Kelly for 30 years has sung songs about his love and passion for women.

It goes on to claim that Spotify 'is acting based on false and unproven allegations.it is bowing to social media fads and picking sides in a fame-seeking dispute over matters that have nothing to do with serving customers'.
