Omo-Agege: Senate ready to comply with court's judgment - Senator

"The Senate leadership has been briefed by our lawyers on last Thursday's judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on whether the Senate has the legal authority to suspend a member for certain misconduct or not".

The post We Will Allow Omo-Agege Resume In His Office - Senate appeared first on Channels Television.

"We have equally filed an appeal against the judgment of the court and a motion for stay of execution of the judgment at the Court of Appeal".

When it reconvened, Omo-Agege was still absent.

The senator representing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central, was suspended by the senate because he openly criticised the amendment of election sequence carried out by the senate.

In the statement issued by Abdullahi, the Senate said it would allow the senator resume in obedience to the court order.

The court also presided over by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba declared Omo-Agege's suspension unconstitutional.

NAN quoyed some staff of the assembly as saying the development was not unconnected with the expected return of Omo-Agege to the chamber on Tuesday after the court judgment in his favour.

For Senator Omo-Agege, the Committee in the invitation letter said, "based on the testimony of the National Assembly Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the DSS and the Sergeant at Arms, you are alleged to have entered the National Assembly accompanied by seven persons who allegedly took the mace of the Senate during plenary session on April 18, at about 11:30 a.m". He said an appeal has been filed, but that it was yet to secure any order to stop Omo-Agege from resuming. But he also advised the lawmakers to withdraw their appeal of the judgement.

Mr Sulu-Gambari said the Senate invasion was an act of internal conspiracy among some security agencies and some lawmakers, confirming an earlier PREMIUM TIMES report that revealed the complicity of security agencies in the invasion.

According to him, "I'm of the view and will insist that the senate should respect the court order given in respect of the suspended Senator, to set a standard for respect for rule of Law;And to challenge the executives & all security agencies to also respect all court orders pending before them".

"In the same vein, Colonel Sambo Dasuki ought to be released on bail in line with the orders of the Federal High Court, the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory and the Community Court of Justice Economic Community of West African States", Mr Falana stated.
