Apps on Google Play

Last week at its annual I/O developer conference, Google unveiled its new AI-powered "Google News" application. Nowadays it rolls out formally, replacing the present Google Play Newsstand, which started on iOS in 2104 as a magazine and news subscription hub.

The app, which replaces Google Play Newsstand, has a clean and easy to navigate layout.

This content is restricted to site members. All served up in the Google News app. The updated app brings an all-new UI that's supposed to give you a faster, smarter briefing on the top news stories going on right now. Along with the five stories, the app also features algorithmically chosen articles and local news stories. The next section called "Headlines" offers a mix of latest news from sections such as India, World, Business and Sports among others. Most of all, it draws from a number of resources to provide packages of view, evaluation and fact-checked posts focused on particular newsworthy events, providing users a good platform from which to compose their minds regarding current affairs. It works as you'd imagine, letting you mark out preferred topics, news sources and locations to filter your reads. With this new addition to the app, users can subscribe to media organizations who either offer a monthly subscription for web/print access or charge a monthly fee to bypass a web paywall. Publications featured here will support the Google AMP standard, meaning pages will load swiftly and you won't be jumping from the app to your browser. The effort is also to make it more supportive of media publications.
