A New 'Halo' Game Has Been Announced, And It's An Arcade Shooter?

For some gamers, their fondest and earliest memories are of long hours and countless quarters spent in a local arcade blasting through their favorite adventures. The game requires cooperation between the four players to make it through, but you can compete against friends for the high score. It's set in the timeframe of the original Halo: Combat Evolved but offers an arcade version of the first-person shooting mechanics. This is in the form of a physical arcade video game called Halo: Fireteam Raven which will be available for you to play this Summer. Whether you're slaying Covenant soldiers, destroying space crafts, or exterminating the parasitic lifeform the Flood, Halo: Fireteam Raven will offer everything great about the Halo series despite being an arcade experience. A 130-inch 4K screen lets all the players take aim on a rail shooter experience in the environment of the first Halo game.

There does not seem to be clamor for a Halo arcade game, but that is apparently the next Halo project for Microsoft and 343 Industries. Microsoft is bringing Halo: Fireteam Raven to the E3.

Halo: Fireteam Raven is the result of a collaboration between arcade producer Raw Thrills (makers of such arcade adaptations as Jurassic Park Arcade, Aliens Armageddon, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), arcade developer Play Mechanix, and 343 Industries. The titular Fireteam Raven are a group of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers who fight alongside Master Chief and the UNSC on the surface of Alpha Halo.

Players will also be able to scan a QRC code with their phones and connect with their Halo Waypoint identity while playing.

Fireteam Raven will hit Dave & Busters stores in the USA and Canada first before making its way to other locations in the Fall.
