Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores on first LA Galaxy start

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has dropped the strongest hint yet that he will be lining up for Sweden in the upcoming 2018 World Cup finals.

The former Manchester United and Sweden striker had made a dramatic arrival in MLS earlier this month, scoring twice on his debut in a 3-2 win over Los Angeles FC.

The 36-year-old Swede continued his inspired form for the Galaxy on Sunday (AEST), scoring the victor in the first half at a sold-out Toyota Park in Chicago.

Rumours of an global return, however, have been growing, and on Sunday Ibrahimovic suggested that he may well make an appearance in Russian Federation.

Skyhöga translates to "sky high" in English, leaving many to believe the 36-year-old, who retired from the Swedish national team after being knocked out of the Euro 2016 competition, would make a shocking return to worldwide football.

The LA Galaxy striker is Sweden's all-time top goalscorer with 62 goals in 116 appearances for his country in a spell that stretches from 2001 to 2016.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic offers his biggest hint yet that he will play for Sweden in this summer's World Cup finals, two years after retiring from global football.
