TV presenter Ant fined and banned from driving

Ant admitted he was more than twice the legal limit after his Mini collided with two other cars in west London last month.

"For that I'm truly sorry".

According to BBC News, the star's statement to the court acknowledged he had let himself and many others down. And for that I am truly sorry.

Freeman jumped after the crash, before apologising to viewers and saying that "some cars have just crashed".

A large group of photographers and TV crews gathered outside the building.

District Judge Barnes told the court Ant McPartlin's breathalyser reading was twice the legal limit and said when deciding his sentence his weekly income of £130,000 came into consideration. The legal limit in the United Kingdom is 35mg per 100ml of breath.

Prosecutor Katie Sinnett-Jones told the court the incident happened at around 3.50pm on March 18 on Lower Richmond Road.

The driver of one of the cars - named as Mr NG - told the court he thought that Ant was dead after the crash, and he came round the corner "like a rocket".

The driver, named as Dr NG, said: "I am horrified how someone can drive so dangerously".

"I saw he was physically fine with no major injuries, but in shock", the statement said.

A nine-year-old travelling in a black BMW hit by Ant's mini screamed: "I am dying mummy, I am dying".

"I'm horrified at how someone can drive so dangerously".

The court heard in a statement to police, Ant said: "I am very sorry I did this".

Wearing a black, three-piece suit, white shirt and black tie, Ant stood in the glass dock in court.

Today, he has been ordered to pay what is believed to be the biggest ever drink-drive fine in Britain after he was caught more than double the legal limit in a vehicle crash. "Anthony McPartlin is sorry and is doing everything he can to ensure this never happens again", Mr Walker said.

"I accept full culpability for this and wish to apologise to all concerned".

The TV presenter has been put off the road for 20 months and fined £86,000 after crashing in London last month.

His presenting partner Declan Donnelly hosted the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway alone and will also host Britain's Got Talent on his own, although McPartlin was seen on the ITV show over the weekend as the talent show aired its pre-recorded audition shows.
