Saudi king attacks Trump over Israel embassy move

Saudi Arabia's King Salman slammed Iran's "blatant interference" in regional affairs as Arab leaders met in the kingdom on Sunday for an annual summit.

The Saudi King also presented the kingdom's initiative and willingness to deal with the challenges that the Arab national security is facing. They were received by Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, governor of Eastern Region; Prince Ahmed bin Fahad bin Salman, deputy governor, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, secretary general of the Arab League, and a number of officials.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman on Sunday opened an Arab League summit by criticising U.S. president Donald Trump's decision to transfer the United States embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Thursday that Qatar's crisis would not be on the table at the Arab League summit, Al Arabiya reported.

"We also reaffirm our steadfast position towards the brotherly Palestinian people and its leadership, which is at the top of our priorities, stressing the need for a just and comprehensive peace that leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the relevant resolutions of worldwide legitimacy", HM the King said while referring to the Palestinian issue".

The heads of the Arab League states condemn the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian authorities, according to the final statement of the Arab League Summit.

Mr Trump then told reporters that the relationship between the two countries was "probably the strongest it has ever been", adding: "We understand each other".
