President Buhari extends VAIDS deadline

"Since Monday, President Buhari has been holidaying in London and has been unable to discharge the functions of his office, in total disregard to the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, disdain to Nigerians and flagrant abuse of his presidential office".

He said Buhari has done a lot to warrant his second term in office, adding that even the blind could see what he has been doing for the country.

Besides, HURIWA said it was incumbent on the President to declare in person since it is him as a person who would seek the votes of Nigerian electorate and not through fronts nor is the election going to take place through the social media platforms.

In the statement, Dr. Ogbonnia said: "The decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election is a welcome development".

"We have serially shouted on top of our voices, reminding Ndigbo of the imperative of voting for Buhari, so as to harvest the golden opportunity provided by the presidential zoning convention between Northern and Southern geopolitical zones in 2023".

VAIDS is one of the key policies being used by the Federal Government to reposition the Nigerian economy and correct inherited underdevelopment.

"We needed to concentrate on them, and politics should not be a distraction".

"Nigeria's growth needs are such that every Nigerian must do his duty to his nation, to his neighbour, and to himself".

The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has expressed appreciation to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Barrister Boss Mustapha, over his advice to the people of the southeastern region on how to achieve Igbo presidency.

The country has one of the lowest tax collection rates in the world at just six per cent of GDP.

Buhari had previous year launched the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan and the VAIDS tax amnesty is first in the series of reforms that will transform our tax system and provide sustainable predictable funding for all tiers of government.

Tax revenues will ensure that public infrastructure is provided, and public services are funded to improve the lives of the people.
