Eurovision victor Conchita Wurst reveals she is HIV positive

Eurovision song contest victor Conchita Wurst has revealed that she is HIV positive and has been receiving regular treatment for "several years".

Wurst wrote: "I have been HIV-positive for many years".

Wurst said that she had been receiving medical treatment since her diagnosis and that it had been suppressed to undetectable levels, so it could not be transmitted.

From the statement on Instagram, " Mr. Neuwirth said he had been undergoing therapy for H.I.V.to get a lot of years, also his virus levels were imperceptible.

HIV campaigners have slammed her ex-partner's actions, but praised Wurst for the "dignity" with which she has dealt with the situation.

Wurst, whose real name is Tom Neuwith, won the Eurovision competition in 2014 with a song titled "Rise of the Phoenix".
