Eagles Release Cornerback Daryl Worley After His Arrest

Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Daryl Worley is facing six criminal charges after police arrested him Sunday morning in South Philly, including those for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and carrying a firearm in public, according to court records.

The team acquired Worley in a trade with the Panthers last month. He is alleged to have begun fighting with officers who woke him and police used a taser to subdue him, a source close to the situation said, confirming an NFL Network report. "We're going to look at it and hopefully resolve it favorably enough so that he can maintain his career".

The Eagles released Worley following his arrest. A gun was reportedly recovered on scene. So far there is no information from the authorities if Worley has been charged and what will be his penalty.

He went on to play at West Virgina University, where he was teammates with Eagles cornerback Rasul Douglas, wide receiver Shelton Gibson and cornerback Rasul Douglas. Worley started 25 games in his two seasons with the Panthers.

The Eagles chose to send a clear message to its roster of players by coming down hard on 23 year old Daryl Worley.

The football player was passed out in his vehicle Sunday morning near the teams' practice facility in South Philadelphia. "I have a great support system in place and can go to them for whatever I could ask for".
