Trump's longtime personal assistant fired over security issues

The specific nature of the "serious financial crimes" investigation is still unclear.

It was a windy winter's day in Washington DC with temperatures in the low 40s on Monday when President Donald Trump's long-time body-man was abruptly fired over "an unspecified security issue" and escorted off White House property so quickly that he didn't even have time to grab his jacket, according to a new report.

The investigation is not related to Trump, the sources added.

As for McEntee, he has not completely left the Trump orbit because he is headed to work for the Trump 2020 campaign.

McEntee was escorted from the White House and was not allowed to collect his belongings. The role meant McEntee was almost constantly at the President's side. In a campaign statement released this morning, McEntee joins the re-election team "as a senior advisor for campaign operations".

Part of McEntee's duties were to make sure Trump had markers to sign autographs, deliver messages to him in the White House residence and, over the weekend, ensure that the clocks in the White House residence were set at the correct time for daylight-saving time, the Journal reported. Despite being more than a year into office, dozens of white house aides are still operating on interim security clearances or, in the case of Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, have been stripped of their security clearances after failing to properly complete their background checks.

McEntee, who joined the Trump campaign in its first months, is the latest of the President's longest-serving aides to leave or announce plans to leave the White House, following the resignation of White House communications direct Hope Hicks two weeks earlier. "We need the help of porven leaders such as Katrina and John to promote the President's growing portfolio of achievements across the country".
