Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Sign With Jets

In the span of a few hours, the Jets signed Isaiah Crowell, Josh McCown, Trumaine Johnson, and Teddy Bridgewater - the latter being perhaps the most interesting.

Maccagnan and the Jets, as an organization, have missed on the game's most important position too many times to sit back and be content with a highly touted, yet still unproven quarterback if this deal does in fact go through.

Bridgwater was once a franchise staple of the Minnesota Vikings, but a leg injury suffered prior to the 2016-17 season put not only his status as the go-to guy under center in question, but his entire National Football League career.

The quarterback carousel began early Tuesday morning when Case Keenum agreed to a contract with the Broncos, who were also interested in Cousins.

The leg injury pulled a 180 on Bridgewater's career coming off an 11-win season and playoff appearance with the Vikings.

So while Bridgewater is a step in the right direction, his presence simply means the Jets have a competent young quarterback on the roster, which is refreshing, but not one that allows Maccagnan to look elsewhere with the sixth pick. If he can prove he's healthy a team might be able to rekindle what he had before dislocating his knee.

The 25-year-old was taken with the 32nd overall pick in 2014 and helped lead Minnesota to the playoffs in 2015.

Minnesota has elected to let quarterbacks Keenum, Sam Bradford and Bridgewater test free agency.
