Martin '08 charged in connection with threatening Instagram post

Former Miami Dolphins player and Harvard-Westlake School alum Jonathan Martin was charged Monday with making criminal threats stemming from an Instagram post that closed the school for a day last month, according to a pair of media reports.

The L.A. County District Attorney charged Martin with four counts of criminal threats, and one count of carrying a loaded firearm. He captioned the photo, "When you're a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge".

The photo displayed a shotgun, ammunition and the hashtag #HarvardWestlake.

TMZ also reported that Martin was in possession of 12-gauge shotgun, a knife and an axeat the time of his February 23 arrest. Former teammates Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito were tagged on the post.

Martin, who was made famous in the National Football League after a bully scandal with the Dolphins, posted a photo of a shotgun after the Stoneman Douglas school shooting in February, and tagged his former National Football League teammates Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito.

Martin is expected to surrender to authorities Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Martin's chilling Instagram post came a little over a week after 17 students and staff were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

Martin, 28, played one season with the 49ers after the Dolphins traded him in the offseason.
