Latest OnePlus 5/5T Open Beta brings Android 8.1

Now when it comes to OnePlus' older devices like the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, there's no official word on when those will be updated, but they will likely be getting Android Oreo at some point. The company is planning to gauge the response from beta users and based on the feedback the update will be modified to incorporate all the changes. We'll have wait till the update rolls out to 5/5T via OTA (Over-the-air) update. Chances are, it may do so very soon, probably in the next couple of days. After the installation of the update, you will be able to work with the refreshed auto pickup gesture, which helps you to attend to incoming calls just by raising the smartphone. The latest Open Beta update brings the Android 8.1 Oreo beta, February security patch and a slew of other useful features to the OnePlus 5T.

The update also brings on board few minor changes. It also comes packed with general bug fixes and improvements. It adds new optimisations in gaming mode as well for a more immersive gaming experience, along with power-saving and pausing adaptive brightness when a user is in this mode. The update brings some cool features to the already interesting smartphone.

OnePlus Switch has also got support for migrating application data which further eases switching between devices. It will basically allow users to switch between devices seamlessly. If you work with either OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T, you should register for the open beta program since the software bits are available only for registered users. Please remember that this is beta update and builds like this are sometimes not as stable as our official OTAs. If a user wants to go back to the stable build, then they have to once again do a full install and clean flash, which means wiping off all the data and cache.

Do note that since these are beta builds, you may face some issues with stability.
