Timberlake: 'NSYNC not reuniting for Super Bowl halftime show

"As we approach this Sunday's Super Bowl LII and its halftime show during which you'll be performing, we ask you to keep the halftime show friendly and safe for the children watching, and who may be hoping to emulate you one day".

He said he would support his son "getting into the arts or sports" - with one exception. "There's a whole list I think Vegas has a lot of odds on it, I heard, from 'N Sync to (Jay-Z) to Chris Stapleton to Janet (Jackson)", Timberlake said at the press conference.

"Uh, he will never play football", he said. Besides, real drama would involve a surprise Backstreet Boys reunion during his performance.

He did say his 2-year-old son, Silas, with wife actress Jessica Biel, "will never play football".

"I'm excited to be on this stage once again at this point in my life", Timberlake said. He previously performed the Halftime stage shows at Super Bowls XXXV and XXXVIII.

Asked by a Boston reporter Thursday whether he was rooting for the New England Patriots or the Philadelphia Eagles to win, Timberlake chose to avoid the question by answering with three little words: "Go, Pack, go".

"That has been sort of the ethos of inspiration behind putting the set list together and the visuals." he explained.

Janet Jackson was the lead performer of the show and Timberlake, as a guest performer, ripped off part of Jackson's clothing, briefly revealing Jackson's bare, pierced nipple before an global television audience.

But the infamous incident underlined how the halftime show and even the creative in-game advertisements have come to overshadow what is supposed to be a sporting event.

"It seems maybe bragadocious to say, but I'm going to say it anyway".

"I know it's been a rough week on everybody", Timberlake said in his apology.

In just a few days, Justin Timberlake is headed to the biggest stage offered to musicians in the world, as he's slated to headline the Super Bowl LII halftime show.

On that same note, he's looking forward to hosting a listening party at Paisley Park on Thursday night in honor of his new album, Man of the Woods.

"I mean, yeah, it's kind of like that thing where my main objective is that he become a great person".
