FBI Arrests Man For Alleged Pier 39 Christmas Day Terror Plot

Federal authorities on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, charged a 26-year-old Modesto man with planning a Christmas terror attack on San Francisco's Pier 39.

Jameson allegedly described a plan to the Federal Bureau of Investigation "in which explosives could "tunnel" or "funnel" people into a location where Jameson could inflict casualties", the court document said. At one point, Jameson stated he needed equipment such as PVC pipes, powder, nails, timers and detonators to purportedly build some sort of explosive device. Jameson planned to go to the mountains and build the devices at a remote campground, then store them at his home in Modesto, said officials. The undercover agent said that he worked for Abu Bakr al-Baghdati, who Jameson recognized as the leader of ISIS.

Jameson was reportedly inspired by other terror attacks, such as the NY vehicle ramming terror attack on October 31, and the 2015 shooting in San Bernadino.

The documents claim that Jameson is a former Marine with "sharpshooter" qualification.

Jameson allegedly believed he was working with ISIS, according to authorities. No one answered the phone there on Friday when KTVU called and left a message.

A search warrant was executed at Jameson's Modesto home on December 20.
