Ekiti APC hails Buhari over board appointments

He added that President Buhari directed the recently appointed SGF to release the list during "this holiday period".

He said the president requested for the submission of 50 names each by the state chapters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2015, which were later compiled by the national secretariat of the party.

Dr. Nabbs Imegwu, a former commissioner in Rivers State who died earlier this year, was appointed to the board of the National Orthopedic Hospitals while Comrade Ahmed Bunza from Kebbi State, an appointee to the Rubber Research Institute in Benin, had passed on in May 2017.

The President's spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu admitted the errors and said "no human undertaking can be free of mistakes". Initially, only about two persons were confirmed dead in the list of appointees.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Saturday, said there was nothing scandalous or extraordinary about the list, describing it instead as "historical".

The announcement of the chairmanship and membership of the Boards was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

As the hours ticked away however, it became clear that some of the appointees would be in no position to receive their appointment letters in person and would definitely never be able to carry out the assigned task as they had passed on, even if the letters may be received by the administrators of their estates.
